These days in Japan, snow is already falling on the mountains and in Hokkaido, and it has quickly become cold. Recently, it feels like autumn has shrunk and summer and winter have become longer.
The cold northern wind that blows in when fall turns into winter is called “kogarashi.” When this wind blows, lots of leaves fall from trees and the trees start to look dried up, which is how this word got its name.
The first kogarashi of the year is called “Kogarashi #1” and its appearance is broadcast on the news; so when we see news about kogarashi, we get the feeling that winter is just around the corner.

There is no speaking section in the test, but but if you listen to what you say with your own ears, and listen to what others say, it’s an effective practice for learning the proper pronunciation of words.
In my case, when I listen to my English afterwards, I realize things like. “Oh, that word sounded kind of strange.” Then I try to correct the word. Making the sentences only in my head is not very effective for memorizing them.
By speaking output, and listening input, you can remember a lot more. I think you’re doing a great job studying!

Yes, I am getting better at that kind of listening, but parts of the test are long conversations and they are tricky, like someone is asking a question and the person answering changes their mind multiple times. I can understand these after I hear it a few times but it is still hard to get in real time. But it’s possible I passed, I’m trying not to take the results too seriously, it’s just something to have as a goal so I keep studying.
It is also frustrating that the progress in difficulty doesn’t seem to match any of the regular textbooks. I spoke to a few people afterward that took it for the first time and had no idea what it would be like. Using the Kanzen Master books was a big help.
I am having some computer trouble so I am still working on the audio homework, I will have record it on my phone.

The Kanzen Master books are a very good series, so I’m glad you were able to find them helpful. Lots of people say that the test’s difficulty changes dramatically every year, and some years it’s quite easy while other years it can be brutally hard. You don’t need to rush to get your audio done. It’s okay if it takes a little bit of time to record it! With the end of the year coming up there’s so many things to get done about, so whenever you are able to record it is fine!

Thanks, I just posted it. 😊
I don’t know if the test is harder some years or not, but a lot of the questions make you feel like you are getting the right answer when you aren’t. It’s impossible to tell this just from taking the test because you are never given the correct answers or which ones you got wrong, but the Kanzen books give you that. Some people who leave the test feeling confident definitely failed.
