何年か前にシルバーウィークの話をしました。連休がうまく重なると、最長で５連休になるという話で、「次の５連休は２０２６年です」と書きました。今年が２０２６年で、５連休の年でした。
Several years ago I wrote about Silver Week. When the holidays line up right, they can make up to a five day weekend, and I wrote that the next time this would happen would be 2026. And this year, 2026, was a five day long Silver Week.

沢山の人は休みをつなげて9連休にして旅行に行く人が多かったです。日本ではサンクスギビングやクリスマスの長い連休がないですから、今回のシルバーウィークは良い家族旅行の機会だったようです。今年は残暑がそんなに厳しくないので、９月は涼しくてどこに行っても気持ちが良かったでしょう。でも残念ながら関東には台風が来ましたので、関東地方の人たちはあまり出かけられず、浸水で汚れた家の片づけをしました。
Lots of people took two more days off to string together a nine day weekend, and the number of people traveling was great. Japan doesn’t have long vacations like Thanksgiving or Christmas, so this Silver Week was a good chance to take a family vacation. The late summer heat was not so bad this year, and September was cool and felt comfortable wherever people went. Unfortunately, Kantō had a typhoon, so people in the Kantō area could not go out as much, and many had to clean up flooded homes.

次の５連休は２０３２年だそうです。それまではお休みが続くことがないので９月の大きな旅行はしばらくないでしょうね。
The next five day long Silver Week well be in 2032. There won’t be any long holidays until then, so there probably won’t be any big travels happening during September for the time being.
