今年の２月は大変な大雪でした。２月に大雪が降る事はありますが、今年は特にすごかったです。
In February this year there was a very heavy snow. Heavy snow sometimes falls in February, but this year was especially heavy.

２月４日くらいから１週間たくさん雪が降って、その一週間後にまた大雪になりました。２ｍ以上雪が降ったところもあります。大雪のためにたくさん電車や飛行機もストップして、とても不便でした。
Starting on February 4th, a large amount of snow fell in one week, and one week later there was another heavy snowfall. There were places where more than two meters of snow fell. Due to the heavy snow, many trains and flights were stopped, which was really inconvenient.

雪が降ると特に大変なのは車の運転です。雪が多い地域は車で移動することが多いですから、道路に雪が積もっているととても困ります。そのため、消雪パイプという便利な装置を使う所が多いです。消雪パイプは、道路の地下の水を汲んできて道路の上に散布するというもので、その水で道路の雪を溶かします。
When it snows, the worst part is driving a car. The reigions with lots of snow also have lots of car traffic, so when the roads get clogged with snow it causes many problems. For that reason, many places use handy tools called shousetsu pipes. Shousetsu pipes pump water from under the roads to the surface of the street and spray it, which melts and washes away the snow.

これが付いている道路は雪が積もらないので、車の移動もとても楽です。雪の多い地帯で車に乗る時は、消雪パイプがある道路を通るといいですね。
Roads with these installed do not get clogged with snow, so driving on them is very easy. When you drive in places where the snowfall is very heavy, it’s nice to drive on roads with shousetsu pipes!
